“The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin,” Exodus 34:6-7

I must admit that this time of year is challenging for me. The days are shorter, the weather is colder, and camp feels so far away! I struggle with the long build up to Christmas - all the expectations of presents, parties, and more.

How do I bring the focus back to what really matters and not get bogged down with to-do lists? Well, I learned it best at camp.

The structure of camp allows for campers and staff to be intentional with their spiritual growth: morning watch, Bible Ex, campfire messages, and devotions are built into each day. It’s no wonder that girls grow so much in just one week of camp! I need the same reminder that we give campers at the end of every session - I must be intentional in my walk with the Lord - it won’t just happen. I must make space for the Holy Spirit to work in my life.

I love the line in Joy To the World “Let every heart prepare him room.” I need to prepare room for God to work in my life, especially in this busy season. I’m praying the same for you today.

In Christ,

Amy “Ellie” Culhane
Executive Director
